Planning a trip to Italy? We’re sharing the ultimate two week Italy itinerary! Join us as we uncover the best things to see and do on an epic two-week trip to Italy! We’re going beyond the standard spots to discover charming neighborhoods, hidden gems, breathtaking coastal views, and of course, incredible food! On this episode of Mapping It, we’ll see the charming canals of Venice, the Renaissance beauty of Florence, ancient ruins in Rome, and the incredible scenery of the Amalfi Coast. This is the perfect guide for first-time visitors to Italy, or for people who want to dive a little deeper. Day 1: Venice’s Dorsoduro Neighborhood: We kick things off with one day in Venice, getting way from the crowds and heading to the Dorsoduro neighborhood. We start at the Ponte dell’Accademia, see one of the last gondola repair shops in the city, and marvel at incredible art and architecture. Of course we have some delicious cicchetti and an aperol spritz, and we’re ending our adventure with a budget gondola ride: a traghetto! Day 2: We take the train from Venice to Florence and enjoy incredible paninis from All’Antico Vinaio. Day 3: Florence’s Oltrarno Neighborhood: We cross the Arno to uncover hidden gems in the Oltrarno neighborhood. We stop by a classic photo booth, visit the Boboli Gardens, hunt down the best paninis in the city, and find a wine window! This is the side of Florence you didn’t know you were missing. Day 4: Hidden Gems of Central Florence: We trade crowds for the world’s oldest pharmacy, quiet corners of historic churches, and workshops where leather is still crafted by hand. Of course, we end the night with the perfect Bistecca alla Fiorentina. Day 5: We take the train from Florence to Rome. Day 6: Rome’s Trastevere Neighborhood: We spend the day visiting ancient churches like Santa Maria dell’Orto, and hiking up Janiculum Hill for incredible views. We dive into the local food scene at Trapizzino and enjoy some of the best pasta at Tonnarello. Day 7: Hidden Gems of Rome: From secret Caravaggios in a quiet church to a private palace with a hall of mirrors, and even a hidden deli right under the nose of the Pantheon, we spend a full day trying to find the real Rome hidden in plain sight. Day 8: We find the easiest way to get from Rome to the Amalfi Coast. Day 9: Positano Day Trip: From the sun-soaked shores of Spiaggia Grande to the historic beauty of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, we dive deep into the culture, and of course, the food! Day 10: Day trip to Capri: We wander the streets of Capri town and visit the Gardens of Augustus. Then we head to Anacapri where we take the Monte Solaro chairlift to the highest point on the island. Day 11: Ravello and Hiking to Amalfi: In Ravello, we explore the town, visit the historic cathedral, and wander through the famous, cliff-hanging gardens of Villa Cimbrone. To end the day, we skip the bus and hike from Ravello to Amalfi where we explore the Amalfi Duomo. Day 12: We take the train from Salerno to Milan. Day 13: Milan in a Day: We start at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, then head to the Milan Duomo. We visit the Starbucks Reserve Roastery.
