Debate Over Agniveer Scheme Revamp: Sandeep Unnithan, Anuma Acharya & Radhika Khera | India Today

A panel debate examines the reported policy rethink and two-year extension under the Agnipath recruitment scheme. Journalist Sandeep Unnithan notes that extensive troop requirements along the disputed borders with China and Pakistan demand boots on the ground, prompting adjustments to earlier downsizing targets. Congress national spokesperson and armed forces veteran Wing Commander Anuma Acharya criticises the initiative as an unresearched policy that creates divisions within the ranks, asserting, 'We knew from the beginning that this scheme is not going to hold any ground'. She argues the move harms military morale. Countering these allegations, BJP national spokesperson Radhika Khera defends the government's approach, arguing military recruitment models must remain dynamic and evolve alongside shifting national security needs, while rejecting opposition claims of electoral motives. #AgnipathScheme #Agniveer #IndianArmy #itwebvideos #IndianArmedForces #DefenceNews #NationalSecurity #Congress #BJP #IndiaToday #MilitaryReforms #LAC #BorderSecurity #PoliticalDebate Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video.
