I recently ordered and installed the folding metal "paratrooper" style forward charging handle for my 8.5" Foxtrot Mike FM-9 upper, replacing the short polymer one that it came with. I recorded the process, including my thoughts and troubleshooting, in case anybody ever needs to reference it.

UPDATE 12/28/2021: At 05:43 in the video, I discuss the possibility of "converting" the upper to use a conventional rear charging handle instead. I reached out to Foxtrot Mike and unfortunately, it is not as simple as changing out the BCG/bolt key and installing a rear charging handle. According to them, it would also involve modifying the upper and replacing the handguard. They may eventually sell these parts directly but at the time of this video, they are not set up to do so.
