Yz250 Rider Takes Me Out! | PacWest Motocross Racing

PacWest motocross racing in Bremerton, WA on my 2025 Husqvarna TC300. Racing Vet 30+B and 25+B, including combined gates with A class riders and a YZ250 takeout in moto 1. Signed up for two classes at PacWest Round 11 and shortly afterward discovered I was Moto 4 and Moto 6 Excellent. Basically I’d finish one race, search for a sip of water, figure out which direction staging was, and go race again. My 30+B motos were also combined with 30+A, so there were a handful of very fast guys mixed into the same gate. That ended up becoming relevant almost immediately. First moto of the weekend I worked my way into the 30+B lead and was starting to settle in when an A-class rider on a YZ250 came flying into my line like a bat out of hell. I still can’t tell how intentional the whole thing was, there was a massive braking bump on the left side before the turn, so that could have been a factor. Unfortunately, his escape route went straight through me. Picked the bike back up, kept going, and still brought it in for the moto win. From there the rest of the day became a balancing act between actually racing and remembering that I had another gate drop coming almost immediately afterward. The track got properly hammered as the day went on. Deep ruts, rough exits, braking bumps, and enough line choices to repeatedly prove that I was capable of selecting the wrong one. By the fourth moto my arms were cooked, but the cardio was still good and I’d built enough gaps early in the races that I could manage things instead of trying to be a hero every lap. Saturday results: 30+B — 1st overall 25+B — 2nd overall Definitely some ugly riding mixed in with the good stuff, but the results worked out. And the YZ250 gave me a thumbnail, so I guess everybody contributed.
