Finding Peace Without Controlling Everything “This Must Be Serenity” A Recovery Song

“This Must Be Serenity” is about realizing that peace doesn’t come when everything around me finally goes the way I planned. It comes when I stop believing I have to know what happens next. I spent a lot of my life planning around disappointment, trying to see what was coming before it could hurt me. I thought if I could prepare enough, control enough, or understand enough, maybe I could protect myself. Recovery is teaching me something different. The waves still come. Life still happens. People still make their own choices. But I don’t have to fight every wave anymore. I can let tomorrow come without deciding what comes next. I can trust God with the things I cannot see. I can stay in today. Nothing around me had to suddenly become easier for something inside me to become quieter. Maybe this is what serenity feels like.
