Headmasters Arrested Uganda Is Hunting Down Corrupt Officials, And The Videos Are Shocking Uganda has launched a fresh crackdown on corruption, and government schools are now coming under intense scrutiny. The Minister of Local Government has been visiting schools and districts to investigate how government funds are being managed. During some of these inspections, officials faced difficult questions over school fees, student numbers, government funding, teacher payments and other expenses. At one school, the minister questioned why day students were being charged money despite government policy on free education in government aided schools. Another investigation raised questions over student numbers and possible ghost students. Officials also faced questions over millions of Ugandan shillings received for school operations and how the money was spent. The inspections have sparked a wider debate about corruption at the local level. If government sends money to support schools, teachers and students, where does the money go when students still struggle to access basic services? The video also looks at Uganda's wider anti corruption campaign and the government's push to hold officials accountable for the management of public resources. Uganda has also received attention for its handling of citizens returning from South Africa, including efforts to support their reintegration. The bigger question is simple.
