SHORT RUNWAY! Euroairport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (15.04.2026)

It's finally happening: the renovation of runway 15/33 has begun, and many airlines have suspended operations. EasyJet, GP Aviation, Zimex Aviation, and the mail flights will continue to operate. VIP flights are also unaffected. I don't quite understand why so many airlines are no longer flying. The vast majority, even some freighters, could still fly, but they've been diverted to other airports. Certainly, the difficult approach and the associated pilot training are a problem. But this approach is also performed spontaneously during storms under significantly worse conditions. What other surprises the next few weeks will bring remains to be seen, but one thing is already clear: we're going to see some hard braking and short takeoffs like you rarely see these days. One thing bothers me, though! Even on the short runway, the A320-214s are still taking off with reduced power, hahahahahahahaha.
