Naomi started at the grassroots level, getting music into the hands of DJs and radio stations before moving into concert promotion. She eventually grew to producing as many as 35–40 shows a year and later transitioned into booking, touring and artist management, including working with established salsa artist Victor Manuelle. Naomi shares what she's learned from being on both sides of the concert business, from taking the financial risk as a promoter to representing the artist and negotiating with promoters. We get into the economics of live shows, why not every concert is profitable, what artists need before going on tour, building a real fanbase, investing in your career, the importance of networking, and why independent artists need to become comfortable putting themselves out there before everything is perfect.
