Starting at the priory, we followed peaceful riverside paths alongside the River Derwent, taking in spectacular views, wildlife, rolling countryside, and the impressive ruins of this ancient monastery. The circular route covers around 5 miles and offers a perfect mix of history, nature, and some of Yorkshire's most picturesque scenery. After completing the walk, we rewarded ourselves with a visit to The Stone Trough Inn, just a short distance away. There, we enjoyed a well-earned drink and a delicious Ploughman's lunch – the perfect way to round off a fantastic day out.
