Meet Dr. OpenHPC - A community builder, not a Bond villain

A NASA reentry-vehicle simulation, one shot at getting the data right, and a compiler version nobody thought to track — that's the origin story of OpenHPC, one of the most-used pieces of infrastructure in HPC that almost nobody outside the field has heard of. But like in many open-source projects, the most valuable part is the community. Open HPC has turned open source methods into a pedagogy for training future system administrators and cluster builders. I caught up with Dr. Chris Simmons, who is the outreach ambassador for the open HPC community at the international supercomputing event in Hamburg.
