This video is intended for South Dakota State University (SDSU) students taking ME 321, but should work with any classes similar to Fundamentals of Machine Design (FUNDE). This video features the instantaneous center of zero velocity approach, one of three methods used to solve for a four bar mechanism. This approach relies on a scaled drawing of the original mechanism and Kennedy's Theorem to determine the location of any primary and non-primary instantaneous center's of velocity points. Then, dynamics equations and instantaneous line lengths can be used to determine any velocity or angular velocity on the mechanism, including extrapolated points and midpoints.
