That was the whole idea. Except every series that runs them adds its own rules on top. Three different organisations set the Balance of Performance. Every championship mandates a different tyre. The driver line-up that's legal in one is illegal in another. And the World Endurance Championship's version of the car runs equipment nothing else uses at all.
