3-Day Wild Camping Canoe Trip | River Waveney

A 3-day solo canoe and wild camping adventure on the River Waveney, from Scole Bridge to Beccles Quay. Join me on a multi-day wild camping canoe journey along the beautiful and often challenging River Waveney, paddling from Scole Bridge to Beccles Quay. Day one set the tone immediately. Progress was slow and demanding, with very low water levels, dense reeds, fallen trees, and more than a few territorial swans determined to defend their stretch of river. The Syleham Mill bypass lived up to its reputation, adding another test early in the trip. It was a wet and grey start to the day, but as the hours passed the weather gradually improved. A stiff breeze closed out the afternoon, thankfully blowing mostly from behind — a small but welcome morale boost after a long day on the water. This trip is about more than just distance covered. It’s a quiet, honest look at solo canoe travel, problem-solving on the river, and finding simple riverside camps as evening draws in.
