Come along for another little adventure in the Cairngorms! A day exploring the Burma Road, tackling the infamous sheep trolley, and, of course, a little mishap along the way! A big thank you to Cat for the sheep trolley tips, and to Caroline for the route inspiration. Funny how a route can find its way to you through cycling pals and a beer after a ride! SUPPORT THE CAIRNGORMS This adventure was filmed in May 2026, before the devastating wildfires that affected parts of the Cairngorms over the summer. If you’d like to support the Cairngorms, its wildlife and the work to protect and restore this incredible place, please consider supporting these organisations: 🦅 RSPB Scotland: https://www.rspb.org.uk/donate 🌲 Cairngorms Trust: https://cairngormstrust.org.uk/donate/ GEAR USED ON THIS TRIP Everything listed below is gear I genuinely use, trust, and return to for multi-day bikepacking trips in Scotland. Nothing here is chosen lightly — this setup has been earned through rough weather, rougher tracks, and plenty of learning the hard way! Bike & Bike Bags Bike: Trek Procaliber 9.5 — Billy Billy, the love of my life. What a bike! He's opened up a whole new world of adventures for me, and I couldn't be happier with him. Handlebar Bag: Restrap I keep coming back to Restrap for the fit, the look, and the overall quality. The repair service when things eventually wear out is a huge plus for long-term bikepacking. Filming equipment Camera: DJI Osmo Action 4 - great little camera and a solid companion for bikepacking. Navigation & Lighting Navigation: Garmin Edge 530 I don’t leave home without it. Clothing & Kit Helmet: POC Great quality, great fit, and miles ahead of other brands in my experience. Jersey: Endura I own multiple pieces and consistently find their kit great. Bib Shorts: Victory Chimp I love the pockets and magnetic closure for quick removal, but the quality and service have been disappointing. I'm on the lookout for better cargo bib shorts, so recommendations are very welcome! Socks: Fingers Crossed My favourite cycling sock brand. Perfect fit, great colours and designs. Love, love, love! Waterproof Socks: Sealskinz An absolute lifesaver for wet Scottish adventures when the trails turn boggy and rivers need crossing! Keeping my feet warmer and more comfortable when conditions get soggy. Vest: Silva A piece of kit that looks great and works even better. Clean, well-thought-out design with loads of genuinely useful pockets. The removable water bladder integrates perfectly into the setup, making it one of the most practical purchases I've made. Wind Jacket: MAAP Super lightweight and reliable, perfect for those unpredictable Scottish conditions when you need an extra layer without adding bulk to your kit. All opinions are my own. This gear has been tried and tested across multiple bikepacking adventures in harsh Scottish conditions.
