The series originally aired on the Japanese satellite channel WOWOW from April to November 1998 and ran for 26 episodes. The story takes place in a future where a mysterious organic structure known as Orphan rises from the ocean. Some believe it will lead humanity to a new world, while others fear it could bring destruction to Earth. Two opposing groups emerge: Novis Noah, who wish to awaken Orphan, and the Reclaimers, who seek to stop it. Both factions pilot biomechanical mecha called Antibodies, including the living machines known as Brain Powerds, which form deep emotional connections with their pilots. Unlike many traditional mecha series, Brain Powerd explores themes of environmentalism, human psychology, and humanity’s relationship with nature—making it one of Tomino’s more experimental works.
