Deep inside Lebanon’s Holy Valley, we continue our journey through Qadisha and Qannoubine — this time exploring its caves, nature, history and the extraordinary life that once existed inside these mountains. 🇱🇧 Qadisha is not simply one of Lebanon’s most spectacular landscapes. For centuries, its steep cliffs, caves and isolated valleys provided shelter to monks, hermits and communities searching for a place to live, pray and survive. In this episode, we leave the familiar paths behind and explore another side of the valley. We enter caves carved naturally into the mountains, discover how people adapted to this incredibly challenging environment and learn how these cliffs became places of refuge, spirituality and everyday life. Walking through Qannoubine also reveals the incredible relationship between people and nature. The plants, trees, water, agricultural terraces and biodiversity surrounding us were not simply part of the scenery. They were essential to survival. Generations learned how to use the land, cultivate difficult terrain and live with what these mountains provided. We also discover more of the history hidden throughout the valley and experience what it is like to actually stay here, surrounded by the silence and dramatic landscape of Qadisha. This is the Lebanon that fascinates us most. Beyond the cities and highways is a country filled with caves, monasteries, ancient paths, forgotten stories and communities that adapted to landscapes where living sometimes seems impossible. Every kilometer we walk through Qadisha makes us understand our ancestors a little better.
