Can I Beat RE7 Using ONLY The Axe?

Is it possible to beat Resident Evil 7 on the Madhouse difficulty using ONLY the axe? Usually, the axe is unobtainable past the guest house section, but thanks to a mod, I am able to spawn it into the item box with at the click of a button!
