I Tried Paris’s Most Hyped Steak Restaurant — I Wasn’t Expecting This

Black Angus is one of those Paris restaurants that seems to be everywhere on social media right now. #blackangus #stekhouse #paris But before visiting, I was skeptical. The Google reviews are excellent, while Tripadvisor tells a very different story — and I’m always a little suspicious when a restaurant suddenly gets this much online hype. So I visited Black Angus République to see for myself. The concept immediately reminded me of Le Relais de l’Entrecôte: steak, fries, signature sauce and a very simple formula. But Black Angus offers three different cuts, including the €35 ribeye I tried. And to my surprise, the experience was much better than I expected: tender Uruguayan beef, perfectly cooked over flames, very good sauces, friendly and efficient service, and a pleasant setting just north of the Marais. So is Black Angus actually worth the hype — and how does it compare with Le Relais de l’Entrecôte?
