Is there an object or a habit in your life that you like very much? (Video games/ Mobile device / social media / alcohol / substances / explicit films / dieting/ eating disorder etc.) Are you able to do without it? Does it cause you distraction? Do you feel restless when you are not engaging with the object or habit? If the answer is yes to all or most of the questions above, it may be an addiction.
It is quite easy to fall into addiction, you may have been forced into it by bad friends or people you know or you may have stumbled upon it. Having an addiction can be scary and lonely, you may feel guilty, scared or feel like there is no way out.
Reach out and speak to a trusted adult. Sometimes you will need professional help such as a doctor or a counsellor to help you. There is no shame in seeking help. We all fall into temptations and trouble, and it can be difficult to break free from, but remember we can make a change with the correct help. Take a step to seek help and get better for a better future for yourself.
