Link to gpx file on Komoot: https://www.komoot.com/tour/125850282... An enjoyable ride for the novice off-road mountain biker. The video pays particular attention to the terrain to ensure potential riders can judge if it is suitable for their level of riding ability. A wonderful, circular, emtb ride from High Newton in Southern Cumbria (south of Kendal) through Cartmel, Grange-over-Sands, across Hampsfell and on to Yewbarrow summit via Meathop. This is a lovely quiet region with most of the route being within the Lake District National Park. The route uses many bridleways and by-ways across very varied terrain from woodland to open grassland, fell land and of course the inevitable, rockier sections. The ride can be divided into two; an easier 12 mile first section returning to High Newton after Hampsfell & a slightly rockier second half across Yewbarrow summit. This ride is 23.5 miles long & roughly 50% off-road. A basic map showing the route is available at the end of the video or you can view the route on Komoot at Cumbrian e-bike trails. This is a lovely route for those riders who don't fancy the more technical, high-level routes; the routes that are readily available in books, magazines, youTube etc. I've put together this ride and several others as I've found a distinct lack of detailed information on rideable off-road routes for those of us with mountain e-bikes (hardtail or full suspension) who want to enjoy an easier, but fun, ride. The number of senior e-bike riders appears to be rapidly increasing and I'm hoping these routes will be useful to those visiting Cumbria and the Lake District and maybe even the local residents, like ourselves. 00:00 Intro 00:32 Start of ride at High Newton 02:15 First bridleway 03:48 Can be a bit wet! 05:10 Somewhat overgrown bridleway but rideable 07:34 Through fields 09:13 Views across Morecambe Bay 10:35 Lovely gravel through woods and then down to Cartmel 14:30 Skirting edge of Grange-over-Sands 15:22 Great off-road route up Hampsfell 21:49 Shorten ride point 22:11 Interesting bridleway drop into Lindale 25:24 Lindale to Meathop bridleway 29:23 Bridleways through nature reserve 31:21 Pleasant views down onto Witherslack & Whitbarrow Scar 32:10 We pushed up this bit! 34:31 & here!🤣 38:02 Somewhat rockier section 40:15 Steep climb on tarmac 41:09 Back to High Newton & much needed refreshment (liquid) in the village pub (The Heft) #LakeDistrict #ebike #explore #emtb #ride #ebikeride #Cartmel #LakeDistrictNationalPark #Cube #GoProhero10 #ebiketrail #TheLakes #easyoffroadroute #cycleroute #ebikerideforsofties #cyclinglife #cumbria #LDNP #ebike #GrangeoverSands
