A seventeen-year-old peasant girl who can't read or write walks up to the heir to the French throne and tells him God sent her to crown him. It works. Two years later, that same king lets her burn alive without lifting a finger. This is the complete story of Joan of Arc: the village of Domrémy, the voices she said she'd heard since she was thirteen, the captain who turned her away twice, the eleven days on horseback through enemy territory, the three weeks of theological examination at Poitiers before they gave her an army, the siege of Orléans broken in nine days, the arrow in her shoulder, the coronation at Reims, the political abandonment, the capture at Compiègne, the trial at Rouen, and the stake on May 30, 1431. Throughout the video we separate what's documented from what's still debated. What's on record in the 1431 trial of condemnation and the 1456 trial of nullification is told as fact; what historians still argue about (Charles VII's motives, the closed gates at Compiègne, the sword of Fierbois) is flagged as such; and what has no answer, like the origin of the voices, is left open instead of invented. 0:00 Hook 0:30 A Kingdom Falling Apart 1:18 The Girl From Domrémy 2:03 The Voices 2:55 The Impossible Journey 3:59 The Examination 4:51 Orléans 6:10 The Crown 6:59 The Discard 7:53 The Trial 9:12 The Stake 9:59 What They Couldn't Burn #history #joanofarc #documentary #medieval #france #realhistory #hundredyearswar #historyfacts #medievalhistory #historydocumentary
