Step into the hidden history of Isfahan, Iran, and discover Angoorestan-e Malek — one of the city’s most fascinating historic houses.
Behind its quiet walls lies a story of more than a century of Iranian art, architecture, culture, religion, and everyday life.
In this video, we explore the magnificent Shah-Neshin, where colorful Orosi windows fill the room with breathtaking patterns of light. We take a closer look at the intricate Gereh-Chini woodwork, delicate mirrorwork, carved wooden details, crystal chandeliers, beautiful carpets, and architectural elements that reveal the extraordinary craftsmanship of the Qajar era.
But the beauty of Angoorestan-e Malek goes far beyond its decorated rooms.
We discover the Pas-Darooni room, a fascinating space designed to welcome guests while protecting the privacy of the family. At its center, a beautiful pool once added a sense of calm and freshness to the room.
Then, we step into the cool underground spaces beneath the house.
Long before modern refrigerators and air conditioning, Iranian architects used their knowledge of sunlight, shade, airflow, and climate to create naturally cool spaces. The basement of Angoorestan-e Malek was used for storing food and ice, offering a remarkable example of traditional Iranian climate-conscious architecture.
We also discover the religious history of the house and imagine the days when its halls and courtyard were filled with people attending Ta'zieh performances and mourning ceremonies.
Every window, every tile, every wooden detail, and every quiet corner tells a story.
This is not simply an old mansion.
It is a window into the past — a place where the art, traditions, beliefs, and daily life of old Isfahan have survived within its walls.
Join us on this journey through Angoorestan-e Malek and experience the beauty of one of Isfahan’s hidden architectural treasures.
