This is the Season 5 premiere of MTV's True Life, "I'm Gay and I'm Getting Married," which originally aired June 24, 2004 — just weeks after Massachusetts became the first U.S. state to legalize same-sex marriage. The episode follows two couples as they apply for marriage licenses and prepare for their weddings during that historic moment: myself, Steve Schonberg, and my then-partner Aaron Pike, alongside another couple, Sara and Jessica.
