Baba Pehad Devta | Nagrota | Jammu

Baba Pehad, known as Pehar Devta or Bhed/Bhaid devta, reigns from his sacred sathal in the enchanting village of Katal Batal near Nagrota, Jammu. Locals believe that the majestic Tawi river was brought to life in Jammu by the legendary 'Raja Pehad Devta'. As the son of Vasuki Nag, the king of Serpents, Baba Pehad was entrusted with Jammu's rule after he miraculously transported the Tawi's waters from the mystical Kali Kundi glacier of Bhaderwah, blessed by the powerful Bawe wali Mata. Today, many Hindus in Jammu honor this divine legacy by performing the mundan ceremony for their children at the revered Devsthan of Pehad devta.
