DCS | Mirage F1 | Ambushing Iranian F-14 | Iran-Iraq War (1981)

1981. The Iran-Iraq War. The Iranian Air Force completely dominates the skies, using the deadly F-14 Tomcat to enforce a lethal long-range no-fly zone. To break the gridlock, Iraqi pilots take to their newly delivered French Mirage F1s and devise a brilliant, high-stakes ambush: The Giraffe Tactic. Flying mere meters above the desert floor to hide beneath the Tomcat's radar cone, the Mirages sneak directly underneath the unsuspecting Giants—before executing a sudden, high-speed pop-up strike at point-blank range. Note: Due to certain simulator limitations, this recreation is not 100% historically accurate, but it accurately captures the overall strategy, tension, and execution of this legendary ambush. This video was a labor of love that took weeks of planning and editing to bring to life.
