What happens when an ISIS resurgence forces regional rivals to cooperate, even when their interests are fundamentally at odds? Held on August 27th, 2026, in this special Providence Game Night, ExpertTheory and Homeland Security Today brought together expert players for Allies of Necessity, a live, AI-powered geopolitical simulation exploring coalition warfare, counterterrorism, regional competition, and crisis decision-making. Players took on the roles of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran, France, and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) as a renewed ISIS offensive destabilized Syria and Iraq. Each team entered the crisis with different capabilities, political constraints, rivalries, and strategic goals. No actor could stop ISIS alone, but every partnership came with a cost. Throughout the event, Dexter Ingram and Daveed Gartenstein-Ross provide live commentary and analysis, reacting to player decisions as they happen, breaking down the strategic logic behind different moves, and discussing how the simulation reflects real-world national security challenges. Over the course of the game, teams negotiate alliances, conduct military and intelligence operations, respond to new developments, and deal with the consequences of their decisions as Providence dynamically advances and adjudicates the scenario in real time.
