My NOSSO Dakar 2026 Experience — Day Two | 215 km Through the Algarve Hills

Day Two of my NOSSO Dakar 2026 experience: roughly 215 kilometres on the bike, riding a big loop from Tavira through the Algarve hills and back again. After changing a tyre that morning, we finally set off at around 9 AM. The route took us north through the hills, close to the Alentejo, before turning back towards Tavira. This time it wasn’t just Stuart and me. Vanessa and Nick joined us too, with Stuart leading the navigation using the track he had loaded. Vanessa and Nick followed behind me, and once we found our rhythm, the group worked well together. It was a long, steady day: wide tracks, plenty of kilometres, and time to settle into the riding and take in the landscapes of southern Portugal. Unfortunately, Nick had a puncture and had to leave the route to get it repaired. The rest of us completed the planned loop, arriving back in Tavira at around 5:30 PM. The sun was getting low and everything was turning golden — some of the best light of the whole event. For me, this was probably the best day of riding I’ve had at NOSSO Dakar. Stuart called it the best day of riding he’d ever done, and Vanessa was absolutely chuffed and said the same about her day on the bike. Great company, beautiful trails and a full day of riding — the sort of day you remember for a long time. I hoped Nick would be back with us for Day Three. WHAT IS O NOSSO DAKAR?
