The Castle With a Private Airport and a Zoo | Hearst Castle

Hearst Castle was more than a mansion. Its private airstrip, extensive animal collection and nightly film screenings made it one of the most unusual homes of the twentieth century. This documentary follows those documented details and the architect Julia Morgan who helped build the world around them. Actual Hearst Castle photographs are labeled on screen. Moving footage of guests, aircraft, zebras, swimming and other settings is licensed illustration, not historic footage of the estate or its visitors. The opening arrival is a dramatization.
