My Drone Got Stuck in a Tree... I Had to Improvise!

This adventure in Sweden definitely did NOT go according to plan! 😅 What started as another peaceful day exploring the Swedish wilderness quickly turned into a little bit of a disaster when I managed to lose my quadcopter in the trees. There I was, somewhere out in the middle of Sweden, with my drone stuck up in the branches and no easy way of getting it back. After looking at the situation, I came up with what can only be described as a rather ridiculous rescue plan. I had my rowing boat with me, so I decided to tape the pedals together and use them as part of my improvised rescue attempt. And unbelievably... IT WORKED! 🚁 I managed to get the quadcopter back, and even better—the drone had survived the whole ordeal and wasn't broken! Sometimes you have to invent a completely crazy solution to get yourself out of trouble. And sometimes, after all the problems, you end up standing beside a beautiful river in the middle of the Swedish wilderness thinking... This is exactly why I'm here. 🇸🇪 The Journey Toward Kiruna The journey north toward Kiruna was never going to be about simply getting there as quickly as possible. There are roads in Sweden where you can drive for hours through almost endless forests, with very little traffic and huge stretches of wilderness around you. For some people, the destination is the important part. For me, the journey is part of the adventure. So while someone else might cover the distance in a few hours, I can easily spend several days getting there. Stopping for walks. Exploring the forest. Finding somewhere quiet to spend the night. Taking the drone out. Looking for spectacular viewpoints. And occasionally trying to rescue expensive equipment from trees! 😂 🚁 The Drone Rescue The drone rescue definitely wasn't something I had planned for this trip. After it disappeared into the trees, I had to think about how I could actually reach it. The solution was far from professional—but it worked. I taped the pedals of my rowing boat together and somehow managed to use this improvised setup to help recover the drone. The good news? The quadcopter survived completely intact. The bad news? My GoPro didn't exactly cooperate with the filming. Typical! 😂 So unfortunately, the rescue itself wasn't captured properly on camera. But at least the drone was saved. And that's what matters. 🌊 The River After everything that happened, getting the drone back into the air over that enormous fast-flowing river was an amazing feeling. The Swedish wilderness looked incredible from above. The combination of the forest, the open landscape and the powerful river rushing through it made this one of those moments where you just stop and appreciate where you are. No crowds. No traffic. No city noise. Just wilderness. And a drone flying above one of the most spectacular landscapes I've encountered on this journey. 🐕 Another Day of Adventure Travelling through Sweden with the dog makes the journey even more enjoyable. A simple stop can turn into a long walk. A short drive can turn into an entire afternoon exploring. And a place that looks ordinary from the road can sometimes turn out to be an incredible hidden gem. That's what I love about travelling slowly. You have time to actually see things. 🚐 About This Journey This is another chapter of my journey through Scandinavia, travelling independently and exploring Sweden at my own pace. I'm travelling with my caravan, my 4x4 and my dog, looking for quiet places, wild landscapes and those moments that make you forget about everyday life. There are no strict schedules. No rush. Just the road ahead and whatever adventure happens along the way.
