Longing for what is already here | 6 September 2026

Welcome to Riverside Church. Sunday Gathering | 6 September 2026 “They asked each other, ‘Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?’” Luke 24:32 Sometimes Jesus is closer than we realise. In Luke 24, two disciples leave Jerusalem disappointed and confused, unaware that the stranger walking beside them is about to change everything. As they journey, Jesus opens the Scriptures, reshapes their perspective and rekindles their hope. Only later do they realise what it all meant. Across these four Sundays, we’ll explore what happens when Jesus meets us in our questions, opens our eyes to who he is, and sends us out with renewed hope, peace and power. At Riverside we are on a journey together to help people get to know Jesus and grow as his followers across Birmingham and beyond.
