Balkans Bonanza Part 3 This time I headed to Herceg Novi, taking a long walk and getting away from the main tourist areas to experience more of where the locals actually go. It turned out to be one of my favourite stops in Montenegro — and I genuinely preferred it to Kotor. Then I crossed into Croatia to finally see Dubrovnik. For somewhere with such a huge reputation, I came away disappointed. Ultra-expensive, extremely touristy and, in my opinion, overrated. After everything I'd heard about Dubrovnik, Herceg Novi was a much better experience. To make matters worse, the border crossing turned into hours sitting in traffic, making the journey an adventure of its own. Was I too harsh on Dubrovnik, or is it genuinely one of the most overrated destinations in the Balkans?
