Verse 1 My name is Piter Raleguer, rodeo is my heart and soul, when I hear the arena calling, I’m ready to lose control. I drove to Ocala, Florida, looking for a horse to ride, but when I heard the price, I nearly fell before I climbed! Verse 2 I saw fine Quarter Horses, champions standing tall, but the money in my pocket couldn’t spend it all. Then I found one in the corner, the one nobody wanted to claim; skinny, rough, and scruffy— but all I could afford to pay! Chorus Go, Piter! Hold on to that old plow horse! If he doesn’t know who you are, show him what a cowboy’s for! My courage lasted one short minute, then I kissed that dusty ground; I won no trophy or dollar, just a cast wrapped tightly around! Verse 3 That horse came out bucking, I yelled, “I’ve got this, no fear!” But before the first lap was over, I knew trouble had appeared. He went one way, I went the other; that old plow horse stayed upright— and I learned how cowboys fall! Verse 4 When I woke up, the doctor told me, “Piter, here’s the news today: the horse is fine and standing strong, but your arm didn’t fare that way!” They asked me, “Was it worth it?” I answered without delay: “When this arm is good and ready, I’ll find another horse someday!” Chorus Go, Piter! Hold on to that old plow horse! If he doesn’t know who you are, show him what a cowboy’s for! My courage lasted one short minute, then I kissed that dusty ground; I won no trophy or dollar, just a cast wrapped tightly around! Bridge Some folks like their fancy living, some folks love the ocean breeze; I like dust beneath my boots, a saddle, reins, and open fields. If a hard fall makes a good story, let that story run its course; I love this rodeo life so much, I’ll ride it till my dying horse! Final Chorus Go, Piter! Hold on to that old plow horse! A broken arm won’t shake my faith! If I fall, I’ll rise again— that’s the cowboy way! Ocala took my money, that old horse taught me right: I may fall off a horse someday, but I won’t leave rodeo life! Outro My name is Piter Raleguer, if you ever want to know me, look for dust around the arena— that’s where I’ll be, wild and free!
