Everyone knows the blue whale. But the second-largest animal on Earth is also one of the fastest giants in the ocean, and most people have never heard of it.
Meet the fin whale, nicknamed the "greyhound of the sea." It can grow over 25 meters (80+ ft) long and weigh around 70 tons, yet it can reach bursts of more than 40 km/h (25+ mph). That speed once protected it from whalers, until steam-powered ships caught up.
In this video, you'll discover:
🐋 How a 70-ton animal swims faster than most boats
🐋 Its strange lopsided face (one side of its jaw is white, the other dark)
🐋 How it gulps a huge mouthful of water and krill in a single lunge
🐋 Its deep, powerful calls that can travel hundreds of kilometers
🐋 How it was nearly wiped out by whaling, and where it stands today
