One of the Most Unique Action Games Ever Made
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was developed by PlatinumGames, published by Konami, and released in February 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360. It is a spin-off from the Metal Gear Solid series and one of the most distinctive and beloved action games ever created. You play as Raiden, a cyborg ninja working for a private military company, who finds himself drawn into a conspiracy involving a shadowy organisation using cybernetics technology to build soldiers from the brains of war orphans. The story is completely over the top and absolutely brilliant for it. The gameplay is built around PlatinumGames’ signature fluid and stylish action design, with Raiden’s high-frequency blade able to cut through virtually anything in the environment. The iconic Blade Mode lets you slow down time and slice enemies and objects with surgical precision in any direction you choose, and the feeling of cutting through a massive mech or an armoured soldier into dozens of individual pieces never gets old. Throw in one of the most iconic soundtracks in gaming history and some of the most memorable boss fights ever designed and you have a game that has built a devoted and passionate community that is still growing in 2026.
Performance on Nintendo Switch
This one genuinely impressed me. Without any overclocking the game runs at around 25 to 30 FPS which is already below 30 but still surprisingly playable for a game this fast and action-heavy. After overclocking with SysClk the performance jumps up to around 40 to 50 FPS which is pretty great and makes the whole experience feel genuinely fluid and exciting. For a game built around fast-paced slicing combat, having that extra performance headroom from the overclock makes a real difference to how satisfying the gameplay feels. I am having an absolute blast playing this on the Switch and as you can see in the video the overclocked performance really delivers.
A Fantastic Day for Switch Ports
Today alone has seen Dante’s Inferno, Dead Space 2, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, and now Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance all land on Nintendo Switch. Four major Xbox 360 ports in a single day is amazing for the Switch homebrew community.
