John-Carl and Marissa Quick met while serving in the US Army. Today, they live in Rostov Veliky with their eight children and are building a new life in Russia.
Both joined the military after the September 11 attacks. John-Carl later served for 22 years and worked in military intelligence.
For many years, the couple were Catholics, but over time they began studying Orthodoxy. One of the main reasons for their move was the desire to raise their children in an environment where Christian faith and traditional family values remain important.
The family had never visited Russia before deciding to relocate. Their move became possible after the introduction of Presidential Decree No. 702.
Today, the Quicks live in Rostov Veliky, attend Orthodox services and have begun preparing to join the Orthodox Church.
“We decided Russia was the best place we could find to raise and shape our children from childhood.”
Their relocation also came with difficulties. Differences between American and Russian documents created problems during the TRP application process, but with legal support their documents were eventually accepted.
The family has also purchased land and is building a house. In the US, they kept goats, rabbits, chickens and ducks, and now plan to return to farming in Russia.
“I hope they will be able to become part of Russian society, strengthen their faith and start their own families.”
We wish John-Carl, Marissa and their eight children happiness, stability and success in their new life in Russia ❤️
