Slipsand Galaxy - Mission 1 Squizzard's Sandy Sinkhole This is my favorite mission in the game, so I'm glad it's been requested. (My second-favorite mission, however, has not.) It feels like you're in a bunch of desert ruins, but at the same time, it feels like you're out in space. The Dusty Dune Galaxy, while pretty fun and had interesting sand-based gimmicks, didn't seem as grand as some of the other galaxies around it, and it didn't feel too special. The Slipsand Galaxy, on the other hand, takes the desert theme and makes it absolutely grand, with the cosmic stone pillars in the background (which Clockwork Ruins also seems to have). Combined with the background of glowing nebulae and stars, it gives kind of a Stargate feel (the original movie, I mean), like an incredibly advanced Egyptian/Saharan civilization of ancient times used to live here. And you can see that it's no walk in the park either. Much of the path consists of sand that will plow Mario into obstacles if you don't watch out for him, and there's a slide of sand that narrows as it goes while Rhomps come rolling down at Mario with their happy smiley faces.
