Inauguration of the Transformative Arena for PhD and Academic Scholars (TAPAS)

The recent inauguration of TAPAS – the Transformative Arena for PhD and Academic Scholars – by Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIM Kozhikode, marks a significant step in strengthening the doctoral ecosystem at IIM Kozhikode. Envisioned as more than just a workspace, TAPAS is a thoughtfully designed academic hub that blends structure with flexibility—featuring 70 individual workstations, collaborative discussion rooms, AV-enabled learning spaces, and dedicated zones for informal interaction and reflection. Shaped over nearly two years, by the office for Doctoral Programme in Management, the space reflects a deep commitment to research excellence, collaboration, and scholarly well-being. From its Buddha-inspired, contemplative design to integrated facilities like a scrolling work zone, leisure areas, and seamless academic support infrastructure, TAPAS embodies the spirit of sustained inquiry and “tapasya” that defines the PhD journey. Aligned with IIM Kozhikode’s philosophy of Satyam, Nityam, and Purnam, TAPAS is not just a physical space—it is a living ecosystem for ideas to evolve, conversations to flourish, and a vibrant research community to thrive.
