Again using the Royal library of Scotland overlay maps ( OS Six inch 1888-1915 ) We pass the infilled cutting beside Stonebridge road with a footbridge built in recent years beside masonry arched bridge portal with visible soot . the former line heading toward the viaduct has undergone a lot of changes in recent decades most recently the townhouses of Woodbank which have encroached on the alignment. In 1991 the bypass was built slicing the line near Louglinstown hospital and the addition of Pylons traverse the former track bed down to the heavily overgrown approach to the viaduct , indeed it was accessible back in the 2010's still ballast in place after 50 years . The Victorian viaduct is more difficult to reach due to the overgrowth but is reachable from Cherrywood road. it has a decking of weeds and wild grass where once steam trains traversed it . Nothing survives between the viaduct and brunt out remains of the Gatekeepers house at Tully gates. Rolling fileds have been replaced by Residential and commercials properties. But their was masaonary overbridge beyond the viaduct where the feeder road is near the Cherrywood Luas stop which is built on the former alignment. The Gatekeepers cottage is brunt out and repeated anti social attacks a sad sight it dated back to 1854 . It was not a traditional level crossing with gates but had concrete pillars but they have disappeared also visible was the imbedded track at the crossing again that has been tarmacked over and a large fence put up beside the entrance to the house. Former sleepers have been used as fencing . Johnny Nobody was filmed here in mid June 1960 filming also took place at the viaduct and Carrickmines station only the down line was left from outide Foxrock . In the film actor Nigel Patrick came be seen outside the train where the line curved towards Carrickmines wood two ivy covered Telegraph poles survive other surviving infrastructure is the 1854 underpass which has been repurposed . #disusedrailways #dlr
