Tour the Exclusive MacDowell Artist Residency in Peterborough, New Hampshire

Nestled in the tranquil forests of New Hampshire lies the MacDowell Artist Residency, one of the most exclusive artist retreats in the world. In this season 3 segment of “Weekends with Yankee” (episode 304), Richard travels to Peterborough, New Hampshire, to tour the famed colony, which is open to the public only one day a year. The MacDowell Colony takes great care to nurture its patrons while they produce art, providing complete solitude and respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Because of its idyllic environment, a residency at MacDowell is highly competitive. In this segment, we talk to MacDowell residents and caretakers to learn more about the history, traditions, and magic of the artist’s retreat. This segment is from season 3 which aired in 2019.
