That’s One Way to Beat a September Heatwave… || September 2026

September sure doesn’t feel like September around here. We’re in the middle of a major heatwave, one of the creeks is dried up from the drought, and temperatures are climbing into the upper 90s. We start the day loading a little hay and talking about just how dry things have gotten, but before long we decide there’s only one good way to beat this kind of heat and head to the river. We take a spontaneous trip to one of our local spots, enjoy the deep swimming holes and beautiful bluff, and Andy even starts talking about taking up fishing. Back at home, there’s still plenty to gather. We pick watermelons and apples, check the tobacco, and finish the evening picking okra in the house garden. Thanks for spending another day with us here on the homestead.
