Morris Minor - Interior Light - Project Daily Drive #8

Due to the situation with Corona, the plans I had to work on the car have been scuppered, so we will be spending the time instead working on other parts of the car. When I first bought Jean, the interior light was smashed and not working, so I bought a replacement. It turned out to be the worst thing I have bought for the car as the workmanship was truly terrible. It never worked right, and melted the wires in the wiring loom and caused a short. I eventually gave up with it and resolved to locate an original. Luckily my granddad has a treasure trove of original rare Morris parts and in a box I found 2 original interior lights, as well as a number of other parts. I cleaned one up and that's what I am fitting today, as well as cleaning up and reconnecting the door switches. Overall the job was a bit fiddly, with the bullet fittings being misshapen, the head lining had sagged and a few other little issues. I did get it in alright but I am not too happy with a few things. When I do a parts order I am ordering some new connectors, new switches and screws and I will go back and do a better job of it. That being said I really am happy with the light, it feels and looks better than what I had previously, and it will make life a lot easier in the future.
