Vučić out, students rise: Serbia's historic election | Ivan Vejvoda

On Sunday, Serbia recorded a historic 70% voter turnout in long-awaited snap parliamentary elections, with the opposition Student List defeating former president Aleksandar Vučić. “It is a historic, crushing victory,” Ivan Vejvoda, Senior Researcher at the Austrian Institute for International Affairs, told World Talks. According to him, the result marks Serbia's return to constitutional order and the rule of law after a period that some critics described as a mafia state. The victory is only the beginning. Vejvoda stresses that the Student List is made up largely of people with no previous political careers and no ties to the corruption scandals that have dominated Serbian politics in recent years. Their most urgent task now is to establish a functioning parliament and form a new government capable of delivering on the movement's promises. Join Marie Kato and her guest as they discuss the fall of the Vučić era, and what this historic election could mean for Serbia's democratic future and its path toward the European Union. #serbia #vučić #elections #students 🔴 Watch our 24/7 livestream - https://youtube.com/live/m4mVcUReR6Y Bringing you all the latest daily news and updates, TVP World is Poland's first English-language channel where you can find world news as seen from the Polish perspective and the latest news from the CEE region.
