Have a job interview coming up? Practice your answers in English before the real conversation begins.
Alex has an interview tomorrow, but his first answers are vague and his mind goes blank under pressure. His friend Emma helps him turn everyday experience into clear, honest answers. Follow their conversation, hear the difference between his first and improved attempts, then practice alongside a complete mock interview.
This episode is designed for intermediate B1-B2 English learners preparing for workplace conversations and job interviews.
You'll practice answering questions such as:
Tell me about yourself.
Why do you want this job?
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Tell me about a time you solved a problem.
Why should we hire you?
Do you have any questions for us?
You'll also hear how to ask for clarification, take a moment to think, describe transferable skills, and discuss experience you are still building. Alex and Emma use the STAR method for a past-experience example, then move into a realistic interview rehearsal.
Listen once for the main ideas. Replay with captions when you need help, and pause at the practice prompts to answer aloud using your own experience. The goal is a clear conversation, not memorizing somebody else's life story.
Which interview question makes you most nervous? Share it in the comments, or write the opening sentence of your own answer to "Tell me about yourself."
