Dungeon Hackshop: borked Lafayette LR-5555 receiver

Today in the hackshop: examining an uncommon Lafayette LR-5555 stereo receiver (from 1978); given to me for repair with claimed "garbage and static" on the right channel at mid volume. Sadly, I found the symptom was somewhat worse than described. Then discovered the unit is not exactly service-friendly. And then found the actual problem is much worse than I suspected!! Is it even worth trying to fix? Hmmm....
