Ep 1: Two Doctors Said We Couldn’t Have Children—Now We Have Seven

We entered marriage thinking we would have two children—a boy and a girl. Then, after nearly two years of trying to conceive, two doctors told us we would not be able to have biological children. In our first episode, we share the beginning of our family story: the pregnancy scare that changed what we wanted, the heartbreak of infertility, our decision to pursue foster care and adoption, and the unexpected pregnancy that gave us our first miracle baby. We also talk about why Shannon bought a crib before she was pregnant, how we discovered the pregnancy while arguing in a hotel room, and why we ultimately decided not to stop after having the “perfect” boy-and-girl family. Today, we are raising seven children and remembering several more in heaven. Our journey has not been easy or unfolded the way we planned, but God’s gifts have been better than anything we could have designed for ourselves. This is only the beginning of the story.
