The Silver Link

Silver Link was the first London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) A4 Class locomotive, built in 1935 to pull a new train called the Silver Jubilee. Silver Link was built at Doncaster Works on September 1935, it was named after a reference to love in Sir Walter Scott's poem "The Last of the Last Minstrel" and number 2509. On September 27 1935 Silver Link entered service with demonstration journey from King's Cross, it reached a speed of 112.5 mph (181 km/h). After the World War 2, it was renumbered into 14 under Edward Thompson's numbering scheme and was renumbered again into 60014 after The Big Four were nationalised into British Railways in 1948, Silver Link was withdrawn from service on December 29 1962 and was broken up for scrap at Doncaster Works on September 7th 1963.
