Around 1350 BC, Pharaoh Akhenaten abandoned Egypt's ancient gods, built a new capital in the desert, and ordered the name of Amun chiseled from temple walls. Within a generation, Egypt tried to erase him from history.
In this video, we follow the true story of Akhenaten, Nefertiti, and the city of Amarna. We look at the Aten, the Amarna Letters, Tutankhamun's restoration of the old gods, and the debate over whether this was history's first monotheism.
