Sawmill and Kilns - Yoder Lumber

Yoder Lumber is a third-generation family business focused on ethics, honesty, and providing top-quality wood products to our customers. The process starts in the log yard where the logs are cut to our customer's specifications. From there it is de-barked, inspected, squared, and cut. The log, or cant, is then fed through the line bar to be cut again, graded, then edged. Yoder Lumber utilizes the latest technology to ensure the best cuts and quality of wood, through digital scanning. The cants are then sorted in the 45-bay bin, organizing the pieces by order and wood type/grade/size. Yoder Lumber averages about 17.5 million feet per year. There are two kilns on-site. Both Berlin and Buckhorn's kilns have a capacity of 250,000 board feet each. The air-drying yard, where the wood rests before it is kiln-dried, holds a million board feet. Yoder Lumber utilizes every part of the log possible. The bark is made into mulch and the sawdust is sold to farmers or used as fuel for heating the kilns. The focus is mainly on Poplar, Red Oak, White Oak, but we also carry Maple, Soft Maple, Hickory, Cherry, Red Elm, Grey Elm, Walnut, and Butternut. There are two sawmills, located in Charm and Buckhorn, which have different areas of focus, be that furniture or pallet grade lumber.
