2012 Cadillac SRX - Replace Front and Rear brakes

Detroit axle brakes are the cheapest priced brakes mongo ever did find. Not sure if they any good but says it got 10 year warranty soo... Many people would just do the one but Mongo like replacing in pairs at least. Ya know both front or both rear. But noticed wear on 1 side not hitting all of rotor and the kit so cheap figure just do em all! Know what your thinking, if they cheap they pry junk. Maybe but never know till you try. These made in china, also AutoZone, Advanced Auto, O'Reilly, Napa, Auto Value, they all made in china, some parts made in Mexico. If you want to replace the front and/or rear brakes on your Cadillac SRX then THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO for you! 00:00 HIs STORY 00:34 Prep Ya know remove center caps, jack up the car, remove wheel 01:08 Inspection tips 02:53 Front brake removal Front bleeder screw is 11mm, Mongo always recommends breaking the bleeder loose and compress the pistons of the calipers with a large C-clamp, get all the questionable fluid out. If you can, remove the bleeder and put a touch of anti-seize on the bleeder threads. Just be sure the system doesn't suck in any air, otherwise gotta bleed all the brakes at the end. Remove the caliper from the caliper bracket, 2 bolts, 13mm with 19mm to hold the roll. Securely hang the caliper from somewhere (dealers choice) don't want it to fall, could break the flexible hose. (Mongo hangs it on the spring, but can use some wire, rope, whatever and tie it to the strut) Caliper bracket has 2 bolts, 18mm Rotor has 1 screw, T-30 Always good idea to match up old parts with the new parts, just to make sure they right. 07:19 Brake rotors All new rotors and drums come with a Rust inhibitor coating. That coating needs to be removed before installing. Course before installing Mongo put anti-seize on. 08:39 Caliper bracket, sliders, pads Always good to inspect the sliders, clean off the old grease, wire brush/wheel and apply some new Sil-Glyde to the sliders. Remove the old pads. Remove the old pad hardware. Mongo always wire brush the brackets were the pad hardware rests, just to make sure there no large debris. Clip in the new hardware and apply some Sil-Glyde on the areas were the pads will rest. Before touching the new pads make sure to get some new gloves. The pad material will absorb any grease, oil that touches it. If that happens then brakes no work right. 11:04 Install front brakes 12:08 Remove rear brakes The rear brake rotors are known as "Drum in Hat" because this E-brake/parking brake very similar to a drum brake and it is inside the hat of the rotor. Break loose the 10mm bleeder screw and compress the caliper piston with the large C-clamp. Remove the 2 caliper bolts, 14mm. Mongo hang this one on the sway bar. Caliper bracket has 2 bolts, 18mm. Rotor has 1 screw, T-30. Brake clean the parking brake shoe, just to remove and debris. 15:44 Rear brake new parts prep Just like the front brakes, if need more details check out the chapters "Brake rotors" and "Caliper brackets, sliders, pads" 17:21 Install rear brakes When done don't forget to torque the wheels and be sure to use a proper torque pattern. Before moving the car be sure to press the brake pedal and make sure it good n hard. Since Mongo push fluid out need to add some more to the master cylinder. Make sure to get the right fluid for your car. It usually tell you on the master cylinder or in the manual. Don't spill brake fluid on the paint of your car, brake fluid very corrosive and will damage the paint.
