Experience the awe-inspiring Greening the Desert Project through Geoff's eyes. Marvel at the natural structures that have recently been erected on the site - the stunning natural swimming pool, Geoff's impressive strawbale/mudbrick house, and the still-in-construction mudbrick accommodation building.
It’s Geoff’s last day at the Greening the Desert Projects. New gardens are going in for summer; grapes are climbing up the trellises. The driveway has been paved with sandstone. All the water flows from the top of the GTD site have been directed to go through the Oasis site’s new food forest.
Trellises, set for grapes and passionfruit and jasmine, are over the top and in front of the new straw-bale, mudbrick house. The greywater system is being set for new shower and toilet block levels. The natural swimming pool has plants growing and a vacuum pump that pours into the food forest below. A solar chimney is being installed above the staircase, and the roof has the water tanks, a water heater, and trellises. There is also a tremendous view of the Palestinian West Bank and the Dead Sea.
The new, three-bedroom accommodation building built from the old shower and toilet block is being constructed of good materials. Mudbricks are being made across the street, and mudbrick walls are being installed between concrete pillars. It offers views over the food forest on one side and the Jordan Valley on the other. Progress is being made daily.
